Tagetes patula. Linnaeus Burning Embers marigold is lovely in containers or scattered throughout the vegetable garden. It attracts beneficial insects while at the same time repelling pests. This historic heirloom flower has been grown in the Linnaeus Gardens in Uppsala, Sweden for many years, and is named after Carl Linnaeus, the father of Latin binomial species names. Start Linnaeus Burning Embers marigold seeds indoors, or direct sow around two weeks before the last frost date. Deadhead (remove spent flowers) regularly for a tidier look and to prolong the growing season. Height to 60-90cm (24-36").
