TM766A - Sweetie Organic

Regular price $4.19 $0.00

CERTIFIED ORGANIC! Sweetie Organic cherry tomato seeds are highly adaptable to adverse growing conditions and plants are well tolerant of cool, wet conditions. A winner in flavour among the early red cherry varieties, theys have a unique, rich, sweet flavour and can be used for juice and preserves without adding sugar. Sweetie cherry tomatoes average 12-14% sugar content!

Vigorous, indeterminate vines reach1.8 meters (6') long and require staking. Highly productive, with a long harvest window, the plants bear generous clusters of 15-20 juicy cherry tomatoes 2.5-3.8 cm (1-1.5")until the first frost. Plants are naturally resistant to Alternaria Stem Canker (ASC).

For best results, harvest fruit when fully coloured and firm. About one month before the average first fall frost, clip all blossoms and any undersized fruit off the plant. This will steer all the plants remaining energy into ripening what's left. If you have a lot of under ripe tomatoes near the end of the season, and a frost is approaching, pick them and store them indoors

How To Grow

Summer-ripened tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C and beta-carotene. The lycopene in the tomatoes is an anti-oxidant, but is only released when the tomatoes are cooked. They also contain compounds that block cancer-causing nitrosamines. We use the convention of Bush to mean determinate (fruit set more or less all at once on short plants). Vine means indeterminate (fruit sets over a longer time on tall-growing plants). Follow along with this handy How to Grow Tomatoes Guide  and grow food.!
