Zinnia elegans. This distinctive Zinnia was a hit from our summer seed trials. It is part of the 'Scabiosaflora' series, named for the flower's resemblance to Scabiosa. Each flower starts out looking like a fairly typical Zinnia, but as the crested centre unfolds and ruffles, it really does take on the look of the pincushion flower. The strong, upright stems are perfect for cut flowers, and each one cut spurs on the growth of more stems. The flowers of Orange Cupcake Zinnia seeds are consistently orange. This easy to grow annual looks sensational planted in large groups. Plant height to 75cm (30").

How To Grow

There’s no mistaking the colour and stature of annual Zinnias.Follow this handy How to Grow Zinnias from seeds guide below and grow some colour in your garden this summer. Plant Zinnias seeds in average, well-drained garden soil, but dig in a generous amount of well-rotted manure the previous fall. Pinch off growing tips early in the season for bushier growth. Water regularly, keeping leaves as dry as possible. Deadhead regularly. Feed once in early spring, and again once flowering has begun.
