Mild yellow globe-shaped storage onions that will reach 15cm (6") in diameter by the end of the season. Sow Calibra storage onion seeds indoors in the spring to produce onions that will store for up to four months. This sweet Spanish type is a long day onion for northern growers. It has a hard body, with well developed storage skins, a round shape and slight shoulders. A little bit smaller than some Spanish onions, but distinctly sweet, and perfect for caramelizing or French onion soup. Allow the whole onion plant to dry in the fall until no more green is showing. Then trim the roots and cut the neck about 2cm (1") up the stem. Store in a cool, dark place.
