Oaklands Elementary School is home to a beautiful courtyard garden that offers students and staff moments of quiet, reflection, and connection to nature. The garden functions as an outdoor classroom while also serving as a daily pedestrian pathway between school buildings, making it a central and well-used space within the school community.
The garden features fruit-bearing plants and native species that support local ecosystems. We are currently fundraising to rehabilitate the existing pollinator garden and to introduce a new sensory herb and edible flower garden bed designed to support diverse learning and well-being needs and engage students in the beauty of growing a garden.
The garden is actively cared for by a collaborative team of staff, students, and community volunteers, fostering stewardship, environmental learning, and shared responsibility.
