C. maxima. Turk's Turban squash seeds are a highly productive HEIRLOOM plants yield several brightly coloured, attractive gourds to 25cm (10") across. Fair quality for baking and stuffing, the bright red, white and green squashes also look stunning in fall displays as decorative gourds or on the market table. They are so decorative we have grown them just for the pleasure of having them around in the fall. Expect three to four fruits from each plant. Turk's Turban are durable if you can avoid bruising the fruits. This very old variety has been in cultivation since before 1800.

How To Grow
The three species of squash that we offer represent a wide variety of shapes and colours. Each will cross-pollinate readily within their species. For instance, all C. pepo will cross-pollinate with each other, but not with C. maxima or C. moschata. For people who want to save their seeds, this is a very important consideration. The fruits themselves will not be affected by cross pollination, but the seeds inside will be, so squash need to be grown in isolation from other members of their species if seed saving is the goal.
