Asparagus Crowns

Planting asparagus crowns is a speedier option than planting from seed, but you should still not expect a harvest from the first year. Each crown is composed of a central group of stems surrounded by dangling, finger-like roots. Plant asparagus crowns in rich soil, covered by 5-8cm (2-3") of soil. Plant them four weeks before your last average frost date. This variety will grow 150cm (59") tall, with a spread of 45cm (18"), so space them with room to grow out from the centre. Leave the plants to develop and grow strong during the first year.

Asparagus crown preorders begin in early winter.
