TM833A - Moneymaker

Regular price $3.49 $0.00

Moneymaker tomato seeds produce vigorous plants 1.5-1.8m (5-6′) tall. Enjoy continuous heavy yields of deep red coloured globes in clusters of 6 to 10 fruit. The uniform, smooth-skinned fruit are medium in size averaging 113-170g (4-6 oz). Fruits are juicy with classic taste and a sweet bite. This is a medium-early, main season tomato. Moneymaker is an old English heirloom variety from Bristol, England circa the early 1900’s. Originally bred for greenhouses, it can be successfully grown in any garden. Though Moneymaker plants do prefer high heat, the plants are amazingly adaptable and will set fruit freely in any weather. Best controlled by staking and pruning.

How To Grow

Summer-ripened tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C and beta-carotene. The lycopene in the tomatoes is an anti-oxidant, but is only released when the tomatoes are cooked. They also contain compounds that block cancer-causing nitrosamines. We use the convention of Bush to mean determinate (fruit set more or less all at once on short plants). Vine means indeterminate (fruit sets over a longer time on tall-growing plants). Follow along with this handy How to Grow Tomatoes Guide  and grow food.!
